Jane Bradley
JANE BRADLEY pursued a degree in Psychology at Brock University in St. Catharines because they did not have classes on Fridays. She followed up with a career counseling disturbed teenagers, both in Toronto and St. Catharines, accidentally discovering her bliss. She continued to expand her front line experiences, counseling immigrants, refugees, abused women and their children, before opening her private psychotherapy practice in 1989. Her areas of expertise include relationship issues, surviving physical and sexual abuse, overcoming addictions, managing stress, depression and eating disorders.
JANE believes that balancing the body, mind and spirit is key to finding and maintaining well being throughout life. Just for fun, she decided to take a walk in her neighborhood one night. That was fifteen years ago, and although the neighborhood is a different one now, she walks the same four kilometer route every night, in rain, sun, snow and sleet! This led to another hobby: Garbage Picking. On Recycle Night she often returns with "previously loved" treasures from other people's curbs, and transforms then into Garden Art. She also has a mysterious attraction to felled branches and tree stumps. She can echolocate Xtreme Puddles at twenty paces.
JANE'S hobbies and interests are all those things she mocked twenty years ago. She is now an ex-smoking vegetarian, who loves gardening, hiking in the nearby conservation areas, and much to her dismay has recently discovered a delight of bird watching. Fortunately, she has retained her love of comedy, theatre (good and not so good), movies (great and ghastly), "car racing (dirt track and Formula One)," practical jokes and chocolate. She reads anything and everything, specially if it is written by Agatha Christie.
Flying in the face of popular idealism, JANE is pro-squirrel, and is considering creating a support group for fans of the turkey vulture. She has a small catering service for local stray cats who dine al fresco, accepting names such as Brad Pitt and Madonna. It is obvious to even the most doubting that JANE would eventually start the first International Happiness Club in her home town of St. Catharines, Ontario. The inaugural meeting in April was an unqualified success, with 24 happy members convening for the first of what JANE hopes will be many cheerful occasions.
