Dr. Richard Ellis was raised in Far Rockaway, NY. Dr. Ellis received his BA and MD degrees from Johns Hopkins University. After serving 8 years as a physician in the United States Air Force he entered the private practice of Radiology in Las Vegas, Nevada. Dr. Ellis was a Clinical Associate Professor of Radiology at the University of Nevada Medical School, as well as Chairman of the Department of Radiology at Desert Springs Hospital. After 30 years in Las Vegas he and his wife retired to Weston, CT.
In 1998 he read Dennis Prager's book, "Happiness is a Serious Problem" and became aware of the large number of people living unhappy lives. This motivated him to read a number of other books about happiness and to teach several classes about happiness at Lifetime Learners Institute at Norwalk Community College.
In addition Dr. Ellis has collected many insightful and inspiring quotes for over 20 years. He shares these quotes with his students to help them live more fulfilling lives. Dr. Ellis also attends the Happiness Club meetings and presents his wisdom and thoughts on happiness and his quotes to the audience. As Benjamin Disraeli said, "The wisdom of the wise and the experience of the ages are perpetuated by quotations." Most recently, Dr. Ellis has taught a course called "The Wisdom Concepts" at Lifetime Learners Institute.
